Dookie review - Green day

One of my all time favourite albums. It was released in 94, but I only picked it up a couple of months ago I bought it from a shop in town. What really appeals me to this album is the guitar style. It has many effects such as palm muting, which is why i love the singles such as "Welcome to paradise" or "Basket case". The lyrics are also, free (so to speak). Bille joe armstrong (the guitarist). Is not afraid to write songs how he feels, and release them worldwide. This is probably why a lot of teenagers, started following Green Day. Myself i never really listened to Green Day, i grew up listening to bands such as the The Beatles, Oasis, The Kinks, The Who, The Smiths etc. I still love all these bands, however what got me into punk was Sex Pistols and The Clash. It was a new sound, and they said and played what they wanted. Although i'm not the biggest punk fan, Green Day got a lot of people into punk. They inspired a new wave of bands such as Blink 182 and Sum 41. I recon any fan of guitar music, so give it a listen. It's not too heavy to put you off, nor to pop to make you smash the radio.
